If you’re reading this, you missed the official kickoff this morning. But that’s ok. House of Yes will make you feel like you arrived just in time for the party this Sunday with their all-day Brazilmania celebration. Come see Brazil battle Switzerland on two huge screens with a Brazilian BBQ, all the caipirinhas you can drink, live music by the Brazilian Brothers Band during halftime and post-game, Sambas, Mambas, Mambos. This tried and true soccer pub is somehow inhabited by die-hard fans and the pure love of the fame at nearly any time of day, and thus they’ll be bursting at the seams for the Cup. Go here to be thrown into being a fan immediately of whatever team and country is playing at the moment because you can’t help but catch the spirit. They’ll have drink specials (like SUPERBOCK and MAHOU on tap for Friday’s match) food specials (like CHORIZO sausages for Friday’s game) and jersey giveaways, plus a special locally-brewed internationally-minded IcoNYC Beer just for the cup. Brooklyn’s unofficial destination for soccer games will be showing every single World Cup match and will be serving you every single beer, every single celebratory shot, every single dish on the menu to sober you up enough to go back to work, and a rooftop with a view and a glass of wine to drown your sorrows and look out into the distance at 4 years from now where there is still hope. To watch the game in a totally local, unassuming spot that will most likely only get crazy for the playoffs, head to Lake Street, the last true bar in New York. They’ll be showing most games. They have Jameson and a sex position zodiac wheel in the bathroom that will give you lots of post game, or halftime, ideas. Stay dirty. Play clean. Brooklyn’s favorite brewery will be teaming up with the Meat Hook and Ninth St Espresso (for those early games and the weenies who are too scared to drink morning beers) and showing every game on the big screen. Watching any game outdoors on a huge screen in a fantasy-like backyard in Ridgewood with tacos and drinks makes every game an event. They’ll be showing the biggest ones, and you’ll be there screaming and cheering with all your friends. Oh, and, there will almost always be a dance party after. Schedule here. 56-06 Cooper Ave.

For the Semifinals and Final

Under the Archway in DUMBO

Most US cities don’t have such iconic plazas and gathering places, but the amazing people in DUMBO are trying to create that space beneath the iconic Brooklyn Bridge. They’ll be showing the Semifinal and final games on a super screen underneath the archway of the bridge. Plenty of local food vendors will be there to keep your energy up as you cheer on and suffer through every single moment. It’s free to enter, arrive early for the best seats. Info here.

This stunning rooftop at the tip of Greenpoint is only open for private events, except for the World Cup final. Watching Spain battle to win the title back will look better with the backdrop of our stunning city skyline and will taste better with unlimited drinks, food, friends, and chanting.
