I don’t know about you but I know exactly what side of that phrase I want to be on. the warm weather has (sort of!) graced us with its presence and that means it’s bike season, baby. and you know what you don’t want to be doing this bike season? walking…yep, walking, while your ride or die crew heads off into the sunset, heads back laughing, hair blowing in the wind, drinking Rioja from a leather wine bota. so let me help you here. bike season needs some prep and i’ve outlined every thing you need to know. because, if you ain’t ridin, ya dyin.

Tune ‘er up (don’t tune her out)

just a quick trip to the shop will have you greased up and pleased up in no time. my favorites in the ‘hood are

b’s bikes in greenpoint – my go-to shop. no frills, just the greatest

red lantern bicycles in fort greene, without whom i would have never made it to see father john misty in prospect park

red beard bikes in dumbo who helped me get home from work so many times

dog day cyclery in red hook who helped fix me up one memorial day when i really shouldn’t have been riding anywhere…

ride brooklyn in williamsburg, who have great prices on rentals for when guests come in town who can’t slow you down.
